Samtec cuts profile of PCI Express Gen 4 edge connector

PCIE-LP-PR_Image_StillThe contact system is designed to minimise the effects of broadside coupling, which decreases crosstalk which improves signal integrity and impedance control.

The supplier says the contact system is also less prone to damage when “zippered” during unmating.

The connector is PCI Express Gen 4 compliant and supports one, four, eight and sixteen links for different bandwidth requirements.

This 1.00mm pitch edge card connector (PCIE-LP Series) has a 8mm profile, smaller than the standard profile with the same 3.50mm contact wipe.

With PCI Express Gen 4 compliance, this edge card connector achieves an 16Gtransfers/s bit rate.

Standard PCI Express expansion cards, 1.60mm thick cards and these jumpers (PCIEC Series) mate with the low-profile edge card connector. Polarisation to ensure proper mating and surface mount tails are standard options; press-fit tails are in development.
